Preston Mui
Dance
Summer '26, Fall '26
Preston is a movement artist, performer, choreographer, and educator whose teaching bridges commercial dance and narrative storytelling. Rooted in hip hop, jazz, and street styles, his classes emphasize musicality, precision, and authentic, story driven movement, guiding students to connect technical training with personal expression and to find nuance and intention within the choreography.
Mui began his career in the commercial dance industry, spending over 20 years in Hollywood performing with artists including Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Gaga. His work across music videos, television, and live performance informs his approach to performance quality, adaptability, and professionalism in the studio.
He later transitioned into theater, most notably performing for six years in the Broadway company of Hamilton as George Eacker. This experience deepened his focus on storytelling, which now plays a central role in his teaching. His choreographic work with East West Players, America's premier Asian American theater company, further reflects his commitment to narrative and cultural specificity.
As an educator, Mui has taught and mentored thousands of students worldwide, working with dancers of all levels as well as coaching artists including Nicole Kidman, Patti LaBelle, Raven-Symone, and Donny Osmond. He is the founder of The Dynasties, a dance collective dedicated to uplifting Asian and Asian American stories through movement.
Mui's teaching fosters a supportive, inclusive environment where dancers are challenged to grow technically while developing a deeper understanding of performance, identity, and storytelling, values that will resonate throughout his work with On Broadway's students this season.
