ABOUT
ABOUT
Built from a Dream. Grown by a Community.
On Broadway Performing Arts Training Program was founded in 2015 by Broadway Veteran Rema Webb — a working artist who believed that exceptional musical theatre training should be available to any young person with the dream and the drive to pursue it.
THE FOUNDING

A Broadway Artist's
Dream for the Next Generation
Rema Webb has spent nearly three decades on the Broadway stage — in productions including Chicago, Hell's Kitchen, The Music Man, The Color Purple, The Book of Mormon, The Lion King, and Ragtime. But as her career grew, so did a conviction: that the knowledge, craft, and community she has built over a lifetime in the theatre should not stay within the walls of the industry. It should be passed on.
On Broadway was established in 2015 in New York City, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. From the beginning, it was built around a single belief: that any young person — regardless of background or resources — deserves access to the kind of training, mentorship, and professional exposure that can genuinely change their trajectory.
Over the past decade, On Broadway has grown from a two-person operation into a structured organization with a full leadership team, a distinguished board of directors, and an advisory board of some of the most celebrated names in theatre. But the heart of it has never changed: a working Broadway artist, her community, and her commitment to the young performers who come through the door.
MISSION & VALUES
What We Believe
On Broadway's mission is to engage, empower, excite, and educate young people in the performing arts. These four words aren't just language. They describe how we show up for our students every single day.
Craft–Centered Training
We teach Acting, Voice, and Dance with the same standards we hold ourselves to as working professionals. Our students learn not just technique, but the discipline, focus, and artistic integrity that a professional life in the theatre requires — alongside the joy that makes it worth pursuing.
Mentorship as Mission
On Broadway has always been about more than the performance. Our instructors are top professionals who guide students with skill, patience, and genuine care. We believe that mentorship – real, personal, long-term mentorship – is one of the most powerful forces in a young person's development.
Safety & Belonging
On Broadway is a place where young people feel safe and full of encouragement. We take youth safety seriously at every level – through training, policy, culture, and daily practice. Every student who walks through our doors deserves to feel seen, supported, and free to take creative risks.
Access & Equity
We believe that access to exceptional training should not be determined by background or income. Financial aid, community partnerships, and access-focused programming like Dream Connectors: In the House are not add-ons – they are core to who we are and why we exist.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
Raising the Curtain
2026 is a meaningful year for On Broadway. After years of building, learning, and growing – and through the challenges that tested every arts organization in the country – we are relaunching with more structure, more clarity, and more ambition than ever before.
This year's theme is "Raising the Curtain." It reflects exactly where we are: a moment of emergence, of stepping into the light with a team that is ready, a community that believes in this work, and programs that are more purposeful and craft-centered than they have ever been.
Our flagship production this summer is The SpongeBob Musical – a fully staged performance featuring our students and led by working Broadway professionals. Beyond the summer, we are expanding year-round programming, deepening our community presence, and continuing to build the infrastructure that will carry On Broadway forward for the next decade.
We are grateful to every family, donor, artist, and community member who has been part of this story. The curtain is rising. We're glad you're here.
